I was looking at houses for sale with my girlfriend when we happened to visit a house that Michael was showing. The house wasn't exactly what we wanted buy Michael impressed us with his friendliness and knowledge of houses in the area where we wanted to buy. We left our contact information with Michael because he did not pressure us to buy at the showing.
One rainy Sunday afternoon Michael called us to see a house that just went on the market for sale. Since we liked his "Zen" approach to selling, we went there to see the house and fell in love with it. We wanted to buy it but had an existing home that I was very skeptical would sell. After discussing the real estate market and availability, we took a "leap of faith" with Michael and purchased the house without a contingency for the sale of my existing home.
I was very concerned but Michael assured me that he could make it work and he delivered on his promise. Michael went out of his way to make sure our needs were met on the house my girlfriend and I were buying and the sale of my existing home. Let me start by saying up front that if Michael can handle my quirks as a client, he’ll have no problem dealing with yours. This was our first time purchasing a home, and we were on a tight budget which made a typically tough decision even harder. I entered the process of purchasing a home with no clue how everything worked, and Michael set us up with a lender and took it from there. During the search, he was up front when he felt we were looking at a looser and cautiously optimistic when he felt we were on the right track. We had three different instances where transactions fell through, due largely to last minute second thoughts on our part, and Michael handled all three with a smile and gentle reassurance. When we got an offer in and accepted, he got to handle my constant questions, worries, frustrations, and occasional rants about loan documentation requirements, and various other things beyond anyone’s control. He again pulled us through with style and grace. I took delivery of our keys during “the storm of the century” after Michael went over to the house in the rain, checked on everything to allay my fears, and then personally drove the keys over to my office. When the copious amounts of water dropped by the storm later revealed a minor leak in the roof, Michael continued to help us after the sale by putting us in contact with a reputable roofer. I’m an auditor by trade and a cynic by nature, and he managed to surpass my every expectation.
